PD is not considered a fatal condition.
There isn’t a simple answer to this question, because it depends on the type and characteristics of each case [2]. Some people live to the same age as those who don’t have the disease. It seems that individuals with Parkinson’s disease who experience difficulties with thinking or with memory have a lower life expectancy than those with normal cognitive function [1,2]. One study of patients that was undertaken recently in Sweden showed that patients with Parkinson disease presenting with normal cognitive function seem to have a largely normal life expectancy [2].
